665 is the lowest GMAT Focus total score that IIM Ahmedabad accepts for its PGP Overseas Indian category, 2027-29 batch. That is one school's rule for one programme, not a national GMAT cutoff. GMAC sets no GMAT cutoff, no pass mark and no sectional cutoff. Most top schools publish no minimum score either.
For the GMAT, a cutoff is a bar set by one school for one programme. Every figure below comes from the school's own page, with its year. The sections cover the GMAT cutoff for IIM programmes, ISB, Harvard and INSEAD one by one. Read the GMAT result 2027 page for the full percentile tables. The GMAT colleges page lists the schools that take the score.
Four Indian programmes accept only test-centre scores
2026-10-20ISB, IIM Ahmedabad PGPX, IIM Bangalore PGPEM and IIM Calcutta MBAEx say they do not accept online (take-home) GMAT scores. A good score taken online can still be rejected there, even where the GMAT cutoff for ISB is none. Check each school's rule before you book.
IIM Ahmedabad PGPX admission page (official)The GMAT cutoff is set by each school, not by GMAC. This tab shows the published school bars, what each score means in percentile and what decides your own target.
The GMAT cutoff 2027 is a school-level number. Only two Indian programmes publish a score bar. Each figure below is from the school's own page.

There is no official GMAT cutoff. GMAC publishes no minimum score for the exam. Each school decides its own bar or sets none. A high score does not guarantee a seat, because schools also read essays, work experience and academics.

The only published GMAT cutoff for IIM Ahmedabad is 665 for the PGP Overseas Indian category. The also lists Verbal 84 and Quant 85 in its Table 4. The table does not label the section units. Read the document before you rely on those two numbers.
The policy counts only scores taken after 15 December 2021. The GMAT carries 65% of the composite and the academic rating carries 35%. Domestic Indian candidates apply through CAT. The PGPX takes a GMAT or GRE score without a named minimum. It needs a test-centre score from the last five years.
The GMAT cutoff for IIM Calcutta MBAEx is a minimum score equal to the 50th percentile. Its footnote cites the July 2025 tables. The 50th percentile was 600 on the old test and 565 on the Focus Edition. The score must be within 36 months of 1 August 2026. Only test-centre scores count.
The GMAT cutoff percentile for IIM Calcutta, the 50th, is only the entry line. The batch that enrolled in AY 2026-27 averaged above the 85th percentile. On today's mba.com table, that percentile sits at about 645. Our reading is that a 565 clears the form, while a 645 matches the batch average. See the official MBAEx admission page.
ISB sets no minimum score for GMAT or GRE and has no preference between the two tests. The GMAT cutoff for ISB is therefore none. The score must be valid, test-centre based and no older than five years from the application deadline.
For the 2027-28 intake, Round 2 accepts tests dated 7 December 2021 to 6 December 2026. Round 3 accepts 18 January 2022 to 17 January 2027. Check the ISB eligibility page for the latest windows.
The GMAT cutoff 2027 has no category-wise details. GMAC sets no cutoff, so it publishes no scores for OBC, SC or ST candidates. The useful split is programme-wise, which the table above gives.
IIM Ahmedabad PGPX and IIM Bangalore PGPEM follow Government of India reservation for their own seats. They publish no GMAT cutoff by category. The GMAT cutoff for IIM Bangalore PGPEM is not published, but one category-linked rule exists. It asks for 50% in the bachelor's degree, and 45% for SC, ST and PwD candidates. That is a degree-marks rule, not a GMAT score.
GMAT has no sectional cutoff from GMAC, but a school can set its own section figures. The three sections carry equal weight in the Total Score. Each section runs from 60 to 90.
Two schools name section figures. IIM Ahmedabad lists Verbal 84 and Quant 85 for the Overseas Indian category. INSEAD recommends Verbal 80, Quant 80 and Data Insights 77, but it has no minimum. The GMAT cutoff for INSEAD has no section minimum either. INSEAD's page quotes percentiles for these scores that differ from today's mba.com tables. Trust mba.com. Verbal 80 is the 54th percentile, Quant 80 is the 64th and Data Insights 77 is the 61st.
These mba.com section percentiles use data from 2021 to 2026:
A GMAT score chart converts your Total Score into a percentile, and schools compare the percentile. This GMAT score chart is the mba.com Total Score table. School figures from each class profile or admission page are marked beside the score they match.
| Total score | Percentile | School reference |
|---|---|---|
| 735 | 99 | Top of HBS middle 80% |
| 705 | 98 | |
| 685 | 95 | HBS median, Class of 2027 |
| 675 | 94 | |
| 665 | 91 | IIM Ahmedabad Overseas Indian minimum |
| 645 | 86 | LBS class average, about |
| 625 | 78 | |
| 605 | 69 | |
| 585 | 60 | |
| 565 | 50 | IIM Calcutta 50th percentile |
| 555 | 47 | LBS usual minimum, about |
| 525 | 34 | |
| 495 | 25 |
A percentile of 91 means you scored better than 91% of test takers. The chart uses data from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2026. It covers 509,182 test takers, with a mean of 554.94. GMAC updates the GMAT cutoff percentile tables once a year, in the third quarter. Use the GMAT score chart again after each refresh. The next refresh is expected around August 2027.
Scores run from 205 to 805 in steps of 10. A Focus Edition total always ends in 5. Use the GMAT exam pattern page to see how the sections build that total.
A 700 does not exist on the current GMAT, because every Focus Edition total ends in 5. Check the GMAT score chart: the nearest scores are 695, the 97th percentile, and 705, the 98th. On the old 200-800 test, a 700 equalled about the 86th percentile, which maps to 645 today. Compare percentiles, not totals, as GMAC advises.
A 750 is an old-scale number. Today's scale shows 745 and 755, both at the 100th percentile. On the old test, 750 maps to 715 on the current scale, about the 99th percentile. GMAC's concordance table of August 2026 gives these pairs.
Yes. A 675 is the 94th percentile, which clears the IIM Ahmedabad Overseas Indian minimum of 665. It sits just under the Harvard median of 685. The GMAT cutoff for Harvard is none, so a 675 stays in the range. For the most competitive schools it is a solid score, not a safe one.
Yes. A 735 is the 99th percentile. It equals the top of Harvard's middle 80% range for the Class of 2027. In the GMAT score chart it is the last score before 745. It does not guarantee admission anywhere.
Top schools publish a class profile or a recommendation, not a GMAT cutoff. The figures below describe who got in. They are not a line you must cross.
The GMAT cutoff for Harvard is none. Harvard Business School has no minimum GMAT or GRE score and no test preference. In the Class of 2027, 943 students enrolled. The GMAT Focus middle 80% range is 645 to 735, with a median of 685.
Median section scores are Verbal 86 and Quant 84. On today's mba.com table, those are the 96th and 85th percentiles. The HBS class profile shows that 34% submitted GMAT Focus, 28% submitted the old GMAT and 44% submitted GRE. The old test has its own median of 730. Do not average the two medians. They sit on different scales. Harvard sets no GMAT cutoff percentile, but its median of 685 is the 95th.
London Business School says its average GMAT is around 645. The typical class range is 555 to 805. The minimum score it accepts is usually around 555, and it has no GMAT or GRE preference. The LBS MBA FAQ carries no date. Treat these figures as current but not time-stamped.
INSEAD has no minimum GMAT score, so the GMAT cutoff for INSEAD is a recommendation only. It asks for Verbal 80, Quant 80 and Data Insights 77 on the Focus Edition. It accepts online GMAT and GRE scores and the GMAT Superscore. The score must be valid for five years before the application deadline. See the INSEAD MBA FAQs.
Wharton and Stanford GSB also set no minimum. Wharton says it has no preference between GMAT and GRE. Stanford GSB accepts the online GMAT and wants a score valid on the round deadline.
No multi-year GMAT cutoff series is published on the official pages read, because GMAC sets none. Three real shifts still show up in the official pages.
First, the scale changed, not the standard. The GMAT cutoff for IIM Ahmedabad's Overseas Indian category is 720 on the old format. On the Focus Edition it is 665. Both sit at about the 91st percentile in GMAC's August 2026 concordance table. The bar did not rise. The number was rescaled.
Second, schools now report two medians. The Harvard class profile shows 685 for GMAT Focus and 730 for the old test. Reading only the 730 makes a Focus score of 685 look low when it is not.
Third, percentiles move slowly. The GMAT score chart changes a little each year. GMAC says they "rarely shift dramatically year over year". IIM Calcutta's July 2025 footnote and the August 2026 table agree. The 50th percentile is about 565 on the Focus scale.
Test volumes show the competition. GMAC counted 93,196 GMAT exams worldwide in testing year 2025, which ran from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025. India had 23,934 of them, the largest single country by citizenship.
The GMAT cutoff 2027 for your target is decided by the school, the programme and the rest of your file. These factors move the real bar more than any single number.
Plan your target from the programme page and the school's class profile. Then check it against the GMAT registration 2027 rules and the GMAT exam fees before you book. The GMAT exam overview gives the full route.
Yes, at schools with no minimum. There is no GMAT cutoff for Harvard, ISB, Wharton, Stanford GSB or INSEAD. LBS says its minimum is usually around 555.
It is below average. A 495 is the 25th percentile, and the mean Total Score is about 555. It falls below the bars at LBS and IIM Calcutta.
Yes. GMAC builds a Superscore from your best section scores across valid attempts. It says retesting raises a score by 20 to 30 points on average, and you must wait 16 days.
Five years from the test date. A school can ask for less, as IIM Calcutta does with 36 months.
ISB sets no minimum. The GMAT cutoff for ISB is none, while IIM Ahmedabad lists 665 for its Overseas Indian category. ISB also reads essays and holds an interview.
Only if you are an NRI applicant. MDI states that Indian candidates cannot apply on the basis of their GMAT score.
