IIT Delhi courses fall into three groups: undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral. The IIT Delhi UG courses are the B.Tech, Dual Degree, B.S. and B.Des. The IIT Delhi PG courses are the M.Tech., M.Sc., MBA and several other degrees. You enter these IIT Delhi courses through different exams, so start with the exam and then pick the course.

IIT Delhi courses 2026 follow a new curriculum that has run since 2025-26, with more hands-on work and more choice.

IIT Delhi offers more than 11 degree types, with 15 B.Tech branches and 42 M.Tech. specialisations. The IIT Delhi degree courses also include a PG Diploma, a joint M.Sc. with Sorbonne and joint Ph.D. degrees. The 15 B.Tech branches are Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, and Electrical (Power and Automation). The rest are Energy, Engineering and Computational Mechanics, Engineering Physics, Materials, Mathematics and Computing, Mechanical, Production and Industrial, Textile and Design. The B.Tech in Design uses JEE Advanced, with UCEED as a qualification. Most IIT Delhi courses sit under a department, a centre or a school, and every one of those units offers a Ph.D.

What B.S. courses does IIT Delhi offer?

IIT Delhi offers one B.S. course, in Chemistry. You enter it through JEE Advanced and JoSAA, like the B.Tech. In JoSAA 2026, the B.S. Chemistry Open closing rank was 8,823 for gender-neutral seats.

IIT Delhi Online Courses

IIT Delhi online courses are short certificate and diploma programmes, not online degrees. The Continuing Education Programme runs these IIT Delhi online courses. IIT Delhi says it now offers Online Post Graduate Diploma programmes through that office. The B.Tech, M.Tech. and MBA degrees are full-time IIT Delhi courses on campus.

Does IIT Delhi offer online courses for working professionals?

Yes, through IIT Delhi online courses from the Continuing Education Programme and through part-time degrees. The Executive MBA runs in the evening for people with at least 3 years of work experience. Part-time M.Tech. needs an employer's No Objection Certificate, and the employer must be within 50 km of IIT Delhi. Read the current list of certificate programmes on the CEP site at cepqip.iitd.ac.in, because batches and dates change.

IIT Delhi Courses Eligibility Criteria

IIT Delhi courses eligibility depends on the degree, and the M.Tech., M.Des., MBA and Ph.D. need 60% marks or a 6.0 CGPA. The marks below are for General, OBC-NCL and EWS candidates. IIT Delhi UG courses need a Class 12 pass, and IIT Delhi PG courses need a bachelor's or master's degree. SC, ST and PwD candidates get a relaxation of 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA in the qualifying degree.

  • B.Tech, Dual Degree and B.S.: a place in the top 2,50,000 of JEE Main and a JEE Advanced rank. You also need 75% in Class 12 (65% for SC, ST and PwD). A place in your board's top 20 percentile also qualifies.
  • B.Des.: a UCEED score. You can apply in any Class 12 stream if you passed in 2026 or appear in 2027.
  • M.Tech.: a four-year engineering degree or a relevant M.Sc. with 60% or 6.0 CGPA and a valid GATE score.
  • M.Sc.: 55% or 5.5 CGPA, with the subject rules of each programme, and a JAM score.
  • M.Des.: a relevant degree with 60% or 6.0 CGPA, a valid CEED score and an interview.
  • MBA: a three-year bachelor's degree with 60% or 6.0 CGPA and a valid CAT score. The department then holds a personal interview.
  • Executive MBA: the same degree and marks, and 3 years of work experience.
  • Ph.D.: a master's degree with 60% or 6.0 CGPA. If you do not hold an M.Tech. or equivalent, you also need a valid GATE, JEST or CEED score or a national fellowship.

What is the eligibility for the IIT Delhi MBA?

You need a bachelor's degree of three years or more with 60% or 6.0 CGPA. You also need a valid IIT Delhi MBA CAT score. The MBA in Telecommunication Systems Management accepts engineering, science, commerce and economics graduates. Selection is by personal interview.

Can you join IIT Delhi courses without JEE?

Yes. IIT Delhi courses such as the B.Des need UCEED, the M.Tech. needs GATE, the M.Des. needs CEED and the M.Sc. needs JAM. Only the B.Tech, Dual Degree and B.S. need JEE Advanced.

IIT Delhi courses fees start at Rs 7,500 a semester for the M.Sc. and reach Rs 3,00,000 a semester for the full-time MBA. The table shows the tuition fee for the 2026 entry year. Do all IIT Delhi courses cost the same?

No. Tuition for IIT Delhi courses changes with the degree and, for the B.Tech, with family income. Families with income of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh pay one third of the B.Tech tuition. Families below Rs 1 lakh and all SC, ST and PwD students pay none. The Dual Degree tuition falls to Rs 17,500 a semester from the ninth semester.

IIT Delhi Courses Duration

IIT Delhi courses duration is four years for the B.Tech and B.S., and five years for the Dual Degree. The IIT Delhi PG courses run for two years. The Ph.D. takes longer, and the time depends on your research.

How long is the IIT Delhi B.Tech?

The IIT Delhi B.Tech is a four-year course with eight semesters. It is the longest of the IIT Delhi UG courses except the Dual Degree. The Dual Degree is a five-year course and gives a B.Tech. and an M.Tech. together. IIT Delhi has not published the length of the B.Des on a page read for this guide, so check the UCEED brochure.

How long does the IIT Delhi Ph.D. take?

The Ph.D. is the longest of the IIT Delhi courses and typically takes 3 to 6 years, as per the academics site. You can join at any time of the year, and your course registration starts in the next semester. The Department of Management Studies runs its Ph.D. as a 4-year course with an option to finish in 3, up to a maximum of 7 years.
