Tuition Only, Not the Full Bill
The IIT Kharagpur course fee in this table is tuition and nothing else. For the M.Tech, MPPLG and the law courses, read the tuition on the course's admission page before you plan a budget.
IIT Kharagpur total fees for the MBA are about Rs 13.04 lakh for the 2026-28 batch. The first semester is Rs 4,12,981. It includes a Rs 1,00,000 international immersion fee, which the school refunds if you do not use it. The later semesters are Rs 2,96,081, Rs 2,98,781 and Rs 2,96,081. The Vinod Gupta School of Management publishes the notice every year, so check the fee for your batch.
International students from outside SAARC countries pay Rs 6 lakh a year in tuition. SAARC students pay Rs 2 lakh a year. Both groups pay other charges as applicable.
The MHRM fee is Rs 5,00,000 for the two years, covering admission and tuition. Hostel, mess and establishment charges are extra. SC, ST and PwD students are exempt from tuition.

The Printed Total Does Not Add up
The guidelines print a grand total of Rs 1,62,981, but the heads add up to Rs 1,61,481. This page therefore says about Rs 1.6 lakh. Ask the Admission and Registration Unit if you need the exact amount.
The IIT Kharagpur fees include refundable deposits of Rs 6,000, one-time fees and semester fees. The deposits are Rs 1,000 for the institute, Rs 1,000 for the library and Rs 4,000 for the hostel. The one-time fees include Rs 2,000 for alumni subscription and Rs 1,500 for the statutory fee. The semester fees cover registration, examination, amenities, internet, gymkhana, medical, laboratory, seat rent, and electricity and water.
OBC-NCL students follow the same income bands as General and EWS students. The band depends on family income, not on category. SC, ST and PwD students pay no tuition at any income.
You pay the balance of the IIT Kharagpur fees details on or after registration. The JoSAA seat acceptance fee is Rs 30,000, or Rs 15,000 for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Your fee statement on ERP shows what is due.
IIT Kharagpur hostel and mess fees are about Rs 41,000 a semester, and the UG fee table includes them for every student. The institute is fully residential, with 20 halls of residence. The IIT Kharagpur fees 2027 hostel part is unchanged from 2026-27. A new student also pays Rs 1,000 as a hostel admission fee and Rs 4,000 as a refundable hostel deposit.

Ask your hall office before you buy a cooler or an air conditioner, because the UG fee table lists no air-conditioning charge. Halls differ in age and facilities.
The fees in the table do not cover books, travel, personal spending or a laptop. The caution money comes back to you, so it is not a real cost.
You pay IIT Kharagpur fees online through the SBI-MOPS link in the ERP system. The IIT Kharagpur course fee is not paid in cash. The institute advises students to open an internet-enabled bank account for this. You log in with your roll number and the original password, and ERP shows what is due.

IIT Kharagpur fees for tuition, hall, mess and semester charges are paid every semester. The brotherhood fund of Rs 200 and the insurance premium of Rs 2,500 are paid once a year. Deposits and one-time fees are paid at admission. If the income document is not verified, the institute charges full tuition. The scholarship page lists the income documents the institute accepts. Read the Refund PageIf you leave after you have joined, you get back only the caution money. Mess charges are pro rata for the days you used. IIT Kharagpur total fees paid for later semesters are not refunded. If you came through JoSAA, the JoSAA withdrawal rules decide the refund of the seat fee. The JoSAA 2026 withdrawal deadline was 14 July 2026. Withdraw before the deadline if you do not plan to join.
