IIM Shillong admission to the PGP runs on CAT, a profile-based shortlist and a personal interview. The IIM Shillong admission process 2027 keeps this order. The rules on this page are for PGP 2026-28, which used CAT 2025 scores. No policy for PGP 2027-29 is out yet. CAT 2026 is on Sunday 29 November 2026. This page covers IIM Shillong admission 2027 for all six programmes. It gives the IIM Shillong admission process, the dates, the final score and the documents.
IIM Shillong admission is handled in two phases for the PGP. The first is shortlisting for the interview, and the second is a merit list for offers. The other programmes have their own policies, and each one ends in an interview. The IIM Shillong admission criteria differ by programme, and so does the IIM Shillong admission procedure. IIM Shillong admission offers follow the rank on the overall score. The PGP document sets out every IIM Shillong admission criteria step. The IIM Shillong admission 2027 cycle will follow the same pattern.

CAT 2026 Exam
For the PGP 2027-29 batch
Name IIM Shillong in your CAT application, clear the sectional percentile bars, and get shortlisted for the interview. Attend the interview and rank high on the overall score. The IIM Shillong admission procedure for the PGP uses no other exam, and it has no direct route.
For the PGP, only overseas candidates can skip CAT, and they use GMAT instead. The PGPEx takes CAT or GMAT. The PGPWE takes its own WE-MAT, and the IPM takes IPM AT. The entrance exams section below lists each test.
Candidates who attend the PGP interview can see their IIM Shillong admission status on the website. The 2026-28 policy gave the second week of May. The institute also writes by email. Check your CAT-registered email address for IIM Shillong admission details.
IIM Shillong admission dates for the PGP 2027-29 batch are not announced, but CAT 2026 is on 29 November 2026. The PGP shortlist follows the CAT result. The first timeline gives the CAT 2026 dates, and IIM Shillong admission 2027 starts from them. Use them to plan your IIM Shillong admission details. IIM Shillong admission 2027 dates for the PGP depend on the CAT result. The second gives the tentative calendar of the last PGP cycle, for 2026-28.

IIM Shillong admission 2027 for the PGP starts after CAT, and the interview shortlist comes in mid-January. Domestic PGP candidates apply through the CAT form, where you name IIM Shillong. This is the first step of the IIM Shillong admission procedure. CAT registration opened in August for earlier cycles. Watch the PGP admissions page for the new IIM Shillong admission process document.
The PGPEx 2027-28 batch is the only programme with a current calendar. The tabs give the latest IIM Shillong admission dates of each programme. Overseas PGP candidates applied in March 2026. The last date was 27 March, and the online interview was on 25 April 2026.
Round 1 applications open by 19 August 2026 and close on 15 November 2026. Interviews are on 5 and 6 December 2026, and the result comes in the second week of December. Accept the offer by 23 December 2026. The last day to withdraw is 15 January 2027. Round 2 closes on 24 January 2027, and classes start on 12 April 2027.
The IIM Shillong eligibility criteria for admission add rules on marks, grades and residence to the programme minimums. These IIM Shillong admission requirements apply to every candidate. The courses page of this guide lists the degree and experience minimum for each programme. Those are the base IIM Shillong admission requirements. The cards below cover how the institute reads your marks for IIM Shillong admission.
🏛️DegreeRecognised DegreeThe degree must come from a university set up by an Act of Parliament or a state law. A deemed university also counts.🧮MarksGrades and CGPAYour university's certified method converts grades to marks. If it has none, the institute divides your CGPA by the maximum CGPA and multiplies by 100.📄SchoolClass 10 and 12 MarksThe institute adds up all subjects on the mark sheet, whatever the board counts. A board certificate is needed if the sheet shows only grades.🌍OverseasIndian Residents AbroadThe overseas route needs an Indian passport. You must have lived, worked or studied outside India for 12 continuous months as on 31 December 2025.Meeting the Minimum Is Not a Claim to an Interview
The institute says mere fulfilment of the minimum criteria gives no right to an interview call. It may use extra criteria to shortlist when applications are many. Treat these IIM Shillong admission requirements as a floor.
IIM Shillong admission uses CAT for the PGP and CAT or GMAT for the PGPEx. The IPM uses IPM AT, and the PGPWE uses the WE-MAT. CAT is the route to the two-year PGP. The tabs give the facts on each test for IIM Shillong admission.
CAT is run by the IIMs, and IIM Shillong uses it for the PGP and as an option for the PGPEx. CAT 2026 is on Sunday 29 November 2026. The PGPEx and PGPWE count CAT scores of the last two years.
The CAT 2026 fee was ₹2,700, and ₹1,350 for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. Registration closed on 22 September 2026. Read the fee rules on the official CAT website.
It is the written test for the Post Graduate Programme for Working Executives. You can skip it with CAT at 50 percentile or GMAT at 500. The institute counts the last two years of CAT or the last five years of GMAT.
The IIM Shillong admission process 2027 for the PGP is expected to follow the same steps as PGP 2026-28. The new document will confirm the details. The IIM Shillong admission procedure below comes from the last published policy. Each step of the IIM Shillong admission process has a different owner.
Missing the Interview Form Ends Your Candidature
A shortlisted candidate who does not fill the interview form in time leaves the IIM Shillong admission process. The institute sends no communication to such candidates.
The IIM Shillong selection criteria give CAT 40% and the interview 40% of the final overall score. The application rating score and a gender score carry 10% each. These are the IIM Shillong selection criteria for the PGP 2026-28 batch. The IIM Shillong admission criteria for the PGP are public in the policy PDF. They shape IIM Shillong admission at every stage. The tables below give the shortlisting composite and the final score. The IIM Shillong admission criteria for other programmes follow.
| IIM Shillong Selection Criteria | Weight | Where It Applies |
|---|---|---|
| Total CAT percentile | 65% | Shortlisting composite |
| Normalised application rating score | 35% | Shortlisting composite |
| CAT score | 40% | Final overall score |
| Personal interview | 40% | Final overall score |
| Application rating score | 10% | Final overall score |
| Gender score | 10% | Final overall score |
The gender score is 10 for every candidate except those of the gender with the largest share among CAT 2025 candidates. The institute assesses communication proficiency but does not add it to the final score. The other programmes weigh their parts differently.
| Programme | Components | Weights |
|---|---|---|
| PGPEx | CAT or GMAT, experience, group discussion, interview | 20, 30, 20, 30 |
| PGPWE | Class 10, Class 12, graduation, interview | 10, 10, 20, 60 |

| Doctoral | Academics, test scores, written test, interview | 30, 20, 10, 40 |
Work experience scores best at 18 to 24 months, which earns 14 points. The score then falls as experience grows. The rating score adds this to your school and graduation scores. IIM Shillong divides your total by the average of the top 50 rating scores in the applicant pool.
| Months of Experience | Score |
|---|---|
| Under 7 | 0 |
| 7 to under 12 | 6 |
| 12 to under 18 | 12 |

| 30 to under 36 | 6 |
| 36 to under 42 | 2 |
| 42 or more | 0 |
Class 10, Class 12 and graduation marks each score up to 10 points. Graduation scores slightly higher than school marks in the middle bands. Marks below 70 in graduation score nothing.
| Marks | Class 10 and Class 12 | Graduation |
|---|---|---|
| 95 to 100 | 10 | 10 |
| 90 to 94.99 | 9 | 9 |

IIM Shillong admission shortlists PGP candidates within academic discipline, social category and gender groups. It then picks the final batch on the overall score. The institute decides the total number called for interviews. It uses CAT performance, seats, overlap with other IIMs and past attendance.
The institute sorts every applicant into one of six academic categories by graduation subject. Each group gets a share of interview calls in line with its share of CAT takers. The table shows the groups.
| Academic Category | Covers | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| AC1 | Medicine and surgery | MBBS, BAMS, BDS, BHMS |
| AC2 | Selected professional degrees | CA, ICWA, CMA, CS |
| AC3 | Commerce, economics, finance and management | BCom, BBA, BMS, economics |
| AC4 | Engineering, technology, architecture, science and agriculture | BTech, BE, BSc, BCA |
| AC5 | Arts, humanities, design, education and law | BA, BDes, LLB, BJMC |
| AC6 | Any other discipline | Not listed above |
You need mark sheets, proof of graduation and, if you claim experience, work documents for IIM Shillong admission. These are the IIM Shillong admission documents named in the policy. They are also IIM Shillong admission requirements at registration. Keep scanned copies ready before the interview form opens. Ask the office for IIM Shillong admission details if a document is missing.
Undocumented Experience Does Not Count
The institute counts only periods of employment backed by documents. Resignation acceptance or relieving letters, experience certificates and EPF or NPS numbers with statements all qualify.
The IIM Shillong cutoff for admission is a minimum percentile in each CAT section, set for each category. It is the first filter, and it does not decide the IIM Shillong admission offer. The cutoff page of this guide gives every category bar and the interview minimums. IIM Shillong declares no cutoff overall score at shortlist or waitlist.
The PGP admission process document linked in the overview above lists every cutoff rule.
IIM Shillong admission follows the Government of India reservation rules that apply to it. For the PGP interview shortlist, the 2026-28 policy sets the shares in the table. The institute decides the total number called. The policy sets 5% of the EWS shortlist for differently abled candidates.
| Category | Share of Interview Shortlist | Note |
|---|---|---|
| EWS | 10% | Includes 5% for differently abled |
| ST | 7.5% | Valid certificate needed |
| SC | 15% | Valid certificate needed |
| Others | 67.5% | OBC candidates sit here |
The policy lists no separate OBC share. Ask admissions@iimshillong.ac.in how OBC reservation applies to your batch. Category cannot be changed once the application is final.
IIM Shillong has no direct admission route. Every IIM Shillong admission goes through the same merit process. The admission policies of the PGP, PGPEx, PGPWE, IPM and doctoral programmes describe only test scores, interviews and merit lists. None describes a management quota or a donation seat. Treat anyone who sells an IIM Shillong admission seat as a fraud.
Beware of Seat Sellers
Offers come from the institute by email, and your IIM Shillong admission status shows on the website. Do not pay anyone for a seat. Write to admissions@iimshillong.ac.in if you doubt a message.
No policy on the institute's site mentions a management quota. Every programme fills its seats from a merit list built on test scores, marks and interviews, with reservation as per government rules.
No. The institute treats admission as a process of its own, and candidates apply directly. The PGPWE uses an admission partner for enquiries, but the selection is by the institute.
IIM Shillong has a Need Based Financial Assistance scheme, and SC and ST students can claim central scholarships after IIM Shillong admission. Apply for central schemes on the National Scholarship Portal once you hold your seat. The scholarship page of this guide lists each scheme, the documents and how awards are chosen.
The IIM Shillong PGP fee of ₹26,18,000 (Batch 2024-26) is about 0.97 times the average CTC of ₹27.03 lakh a year (PGP 2024-26 placements). Both figures are for the same batch, so the comparison is direct. The IIM Shillong fees page lists what the fee covers. The IIM Shillong placements page gives the full offer data.

Fee Against Average CTC
About 11.6 months of average CTC
The fee equals about 11.6 months of the average CTC and about 12.1 months of the median CTC of ₹26.00 lakh. This compares the fee with one year of the stated pay, before tax and living cost, and it ignores interest on any loan. It is a rough guide only. The fee also leaves out two years of lost salary for students who leave a job to join. About 74% of the 2024-26 batch had worked before joining, so this applies to most students.
The average of ₹27.03 lakh and the median of ₹26.00 lakh sit close together, so the typical offer is near ₹26 lakh. The top 10% averaged ₹43.26 lakh, and the top 50% averaged ₹30.51 lakh. If the batch is split into two equal halves, that leaves the lower half near ₹23.55 lakh. For those students, the fee equals about 13.3 months of pay.
Consulting and Strategy took 30% of the batch, Finance 25% and Sales and Marketing 18%. The report gives the highest CTC of each domain but no average, so a typical pay for a domain is not known. HR and Operations, with 5% of the batch, had a highest offer of ₹30.60 lakh. That leaves little room above the batch average in that domain.
The fee suits students who want consulting, finance or marketing roles and accept pay near ₹26 lakh. It suits a student less if the student already earns well, because two years of that pay are lost. It also suits less a student who counts on the ₹71.50 lakh highest offer from Microsoft in IT and Analytics, since only the top 10% averaged ₹43.26 lakh. The institute says students have taken collateral-free education loans, and the IIM Shillong scholarships page lists need-based aid for the PGP.
Answers to what readers ask most often.
