The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) emphasis prepares the post-BSN student to complete the requirements for certification as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the role of a family nurse practitioner (FNP). The DNP is a terminal nursing degree, which prepares graduates for translational science to influence direct and indirect health outcomes not only for individuals but for populations and healthcare systems. The DNP-FNP program utilizes a hybrid delivery format with various learning opportunities in didactic, lab, clinical, and community engaged learning experiences. The program of study consists of 75 credit hours to be completed over seven, full-time academic semesters with an optional 8th semester extension available for completion of student project and clinical. Students must complete 500 DNP practice hours, with a minimum of 500 FNP clinical practice hours. All DNP students complete a DNP project during their program of study, which includes associated practicum hours. |
