Pre-Health Professions Program in Physician Assistant Alma College

A physician assistant is a health professional that may serve as a primary provider or work in collaboration with a licensed physician. Generally, PAs will work under the supervision of a physician, although the physician does not have to be present while a PA practices. This is due to the requirement by most states that PAs form an agreement with a licensed physician. As part of their practice, a PA may evaluate patients, diagnose and treat illnesses, and prescribe medication.

Alma College, founded in 1886 by Presbyterians, is a selective, residential, coeducational, private liberal arts college devoted to the teaching and education of undergraduate students. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and is one of seven Phi Beta Kappa institutions in the state of Michigan. All Alma College students take courses during two 14-week semesters followed by a one-month intensive Spring Term.
