Language Program - Pre-sessional English University of Portsmouth, UK

The Pre-sessional English 10 weeks program at the University of Portsmouth is a comprehensive course designed to improve students' English language skills to the level required for University study. The program is ideal for international students who have a conditional offer for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University but do not currently meet the English language requirement. Over the course of 10 weeks, students will develop academic English skills through a mix of reading, writing, speaking, and listening tasks. They will be taught by experienced English language tutors, with a strong focus on university-style teaching and assessment methods. The program covers areas such as academic writing, note-taking, research skills, and presentation skills. It also includes individual tutorials, group work, and self-study activities to help students become independent learners. On completing the program, students should be able to confidently participate in university lectures and tutorials, write assignments to the required academic standard, and read and understand academic texts.
