The Law LLB (Hons) program at University of Portsmouth is a high-quality, rigorous program that focuses on providing students with a broad understanding of the UK’s legal system and increasingly global law principles. The program strikes a balance between practical and theoretical learning, helping students develop a comprehensive understanding of law and acquire useful skills. Students get to learn about all aspects of law including property law, contract law, criminal law, and tort law among others. In addition to its core modules, the program offers a variety of optional modules that allow students to specialise in areas that interest them, including commercial law, family law, employment law, and human rights law. The program has a strong practical focus with opportunities for mooting, client interviewing, and negotiation. It also supports students with work experience opportunities and placements, including legal clinics that offer experience in giving legal advice to the public. On successful completion of the course, graduates may progress to the legal practice course (LPC) or bar professional training course (BPTC), or take up employment in legal practices, businesses, NGO’s or the civil service. The course is fully recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board as a qualifying law degree. This recognition gives graduates the maximum possible exemption from professional exams if they choose to go into legal practice.
