The BA (Hons) 3D Animation and Visual Effects program at the University of Hertfordshire is a four-year degree program that incorporates a placement year. The course provides intensive knowledge about the 3D animation and visual effects industries. It offers the students the chance to learn and enhance their skills in creating high-quality 3D models, animations, and visual effects for film, television, and other media. It equips students with artistic, technical, and professional skills required in these industries. The curriculum includes areas of 3D modelling, texturing, lighting, rendering, character animation, and motion capture. Students get to work with current industry software like Maya, Nuke, Photoshop, Unreal Engine 4, and Houdini, gaining hands-on experience in industry-specific technology. The course also includes real-world projects allowing students to apply their learning in practical scenarios. The placement year comes within this four-year duration, during which students get opportunities to work with established industries, start-ups, and freelance projects. On completion, graduates are well-prepared to enter industries such as animation, gaming, film and television, and advertise with a high level of understanding of the technicalities and creativity of 3D animation and visual effects.
