From improving understanding of how our bodies function and the biomaterials from which we are made, to the design and development of artificial medical implants hip joints, heart valves, and prosthetic limbs - biomedical engineers find creative ways to save and improve the quality of people’s lives.

In Year 1, you’ll build a strong foundation in fundamental engineering concepts such as fluid mechanics, design, materials, and mathematical modeling, whilst being introduced to Biomedical engineering through the ‘Explore Biomedical Engineering’ module. Modules in design and experimental practice will help you to develop the practical workshop and laboratory-based skills necessary for all engineers and put core program material into perspective and to practical use.
