The BA (Hons) Criminology and Sociology program with a placement year at Lancaster University offers students an in-depth understanding of the core elements in criminology and sociology. This course explores how crime, deviance, justice, and societal issues are defined in our society from different sociological perspectives. Students get to examine various social structures, processes, and issues that contribute to crime and social problems. They also get to understand diverse sociological theories and the ability to challenge established norms and theories. The course is designed to develop a critical understanding and engagement with real-world issues related to crime, deviance and social order. A unique feature of this program is the placement year, which offers students the opportunity to apply what they have learned in the classroom to real-world scenarios.
