The Student-Managed Farm (SMF) powered by New Holland choices include purebred, commercial or livestock research units. Or, students may choose a student-led practicum.

Through labs and student-managed opportunities students will have a thorough and practical understanding of the beef industry. Students will be ready to start their career in any industry sector, or on their own farm or ranch.

Once graduated from this program, students may apply to one of the Bachelor of Agricultural Technology streams. This diploma can be used to complete the Bachelor of Agricultural Technology degree in two years instead of four. The second year of the animal science technology program includes two student-managed farm (SMF) courses.

Lakeland College was opened in 1913 with only 34 students enrolled. Today, it has campuses in Vermilion and Lloydminster, with over 60 programs, and more than 7,000 full-time and part-time students - but Lakeland is as tight-knit as ever.
