Things to Avoid During Study Breaks

Things to Avoid During Study Breaks

Study breaks are helpful when you know how to use them. When you spend it in the wrong way, it will turn into procrastination. And you wouldn’t want that. It’s exactly the opposite of what you need to study.

Here are some things you must avoid during a study break:

Taking a nap

Taking a nap is a no-no. It makes you more tired and slows down your progress. But if you need to take a nap during breaks, a quick nap is the best option. Set a timer and make sure that it will not take longer than 20 minutes.

Eating junk food

Junk food is not healthy, just like what your mom says. Even though it is much easier to take out a pizza or pick a sugary treat, these won’t give you the nutrients you will need to keep your phase in your study. Instead, cook or grab something healthy.

Spending time on TV or the Internet

Watching TV, playing video games, or surfing the net won’t do you any good. It won’t aid your efficiency and will stray your mind away from what you should be focusing on. It can make you feel more tired. Rather than these, do activities that will keep you moving.

Excessive caffeine intake

If you are a coffee lover, it may be the time for you to assess whether caffeine is your true friend. You may think that it will help you get through the finals but drinking too much coffee has adverse effects on your body that might be bad for you in the long run. Consider doing positive activities that will keep your focus for a long time.

Keeping your phone near you

A phone is a big distraction for your study. Keep your phone away from you or put it in silent mode. You wouldn’t want to spend all your time browsing your Facebook newsfeed instead of focusing on your notes. Allot some time, but not from time to time, when you will check on your phone for important notifications.

Huge meals

Rewarding yourself with large meals may not be beneficial for you. Excessive food will turn your energetic body and mindset into a lethargic one. What’s best is to choose lighter meals in between your whole study period.

Taking study breaks is a normal thing to do. It enables one to have some other time than studying, allowing some space for relaxation and not just tension.
