Applied Sciences

Overview

Applied science is a discipline that applies current scientific knowledge to practical challenges, or with the use of hands-on approach. Applications of science examples are inventions and technology. The discipline has a strong connection with natural science. Natural science aims to develop and explain a phenomena about the natural world, while applied sciences is there to put those information to practical use.

Applied science degrees appear in both undergraduate and graduate levels, and included in various programs in their respective institutions. Students of this discipline, most of the time, become specialists of their chosen field after graduation. Moreover, students who enrol in applied science degrees may earn a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS), a Master of Applied Science (MAS), or an Associate of Applied Science (AAS). Aside from gaining practical knowledge from the course to solve real time issues, students also learn theories from their chosen field. Coursework varies depending on the field of science chosen by the student. However, some examples of applied science instruction using scientific sources include physics for engineering, biology for medicine, or mathematics for computer science, and so on. Some examples of popular applied science courses include engineering, healthcare, business management .
