Students in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at University Canada West (UCW) can take a micro-credential to brush up on their accounting abilities at the start of their program.

Financial Accounting 099, a basic course that covers the fundamentals of financial accounting, has been launched by UCW. It is a mandatory course for all MBA students.

Key Takeaways:

  • Students can take a new micro-credential to brush up on their accounting abilities at the start of their MBA program at UCW.
  • UCW has introduced Financial Accounting 099, a mandatory class for all MBA students.
  • For four weeks, students will understand accounting principles and aspects to establish the foundation of their MBA studies.

UCW’s new micro-credential was designed to assist students in completing ACCT 621–Accounting for Managers. ACCT 621–Accounting for Managers runs concurrently with this micro-credential.

Students will master accounting principles and elements over the course of four weeks, which will be critical in laying the groundwork for the rest of their MBA studies.

Accounting equations, debits and credits, how to balance an account, and the three primary forms of company reports are among the topics covered.

Throughout the Financial Accounting course, students will have several opportunities to work collaboratively in groups.

UCW’s instruction will help students better understand the material and develop the interpersonal, communication, organizational, conflict resolution, and teamwork skills they need to succeed in their careers.

Financial and management accounting are two in-demand job disciplines that provide students with a choice of rewarding options following graduation.

Students who pass Financial Accounting will receive a digital badge and the course will count for 5 percent of their ACCT 621 mark.

The university has also announced that there was no charge for this course during the Winter 2022 Term.
